Apple’s VP of Finance to depart this month, to join as Sonos CFO

Sonos

. This company is popular for its smart speakers that compete with Apple’s HomePod.
According to a report by Bloomberg, Casey is set to take the new job at Sonos on January 22. She will replace

Eddie Lazarus

who is set to become the chief strategy officer at the company.
Casey reports directly to Apple CFO

Luca Maestri

and has spent over 12 years at the company. Earlier, she used to work at Cisco for 15 years.
In a statement, Sonos CEO

Patrick Spence

said: “The depth and breadth of her experience at world-class companies like Apple and Cisco make her perfectly suited to build on our momentum and seize the opportunity ahead.”

Sonos’ plans to expand to markets other than smart speakers
Sonos mainly focuses on premium hardware with software verticals and has often been referred to as "the Apple of speakers". As the smart audio equipment market is seeing a slowdown, the company is reportedly planning to enter other categories that include headphones, set-top boxes and video services.

The report claims that Sonos is appointing high-ranking Apple employees as it seeks to venture into devices other than smart speakers. The company is also expected to launch new devices to take on AirPods and

Apple TV

in 2024.
Apart from Casey, several other high-profile executives are also set to depart Apple soon. This includes executives like

Steve Hotelling

and

Tang Tan

.
Hotelling, who was a vice president in charge of hardware technologies like Touch ID, Face ID and displays, recently announced his retirement. Meanwhile, Tang Tan, who is vice president of product design at Apple is set to leave in February.
