Apple
is planning major product launches in March or April that will likely include new
iPad Pro
models with OLED displays, a revamped

lineup, and upgraded
MacBook Air
laptops powered by the new
M3
chip, according to a report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. However, unlike previous spring product unveilings, Apple does not plan to host a special event to introduce the new devices.
Gurman shared the plans for Apple's spring product lineup in the latest edition of his "Power On" newsletter.
He expects Apple to announce the new products through press releases on its website and accompanying marketing videos.
No special event planned
Gurman's report indicates Apple will take a different approach than previous spring events, like its "Peek Performance" showcase in March 2022. The company typically hosts a live-streamed keynote address in the spring months to unveil major new hardware releases.
While some speculation had suggested a potential April event this year, Gurman's sources indicate Apple will opt for online product announcements instead of an in-person presentation.
New iPad Pro models headline launches
The most significant product expected in Apple's spring lineup is a pair of high-end
iPad
Pro models featuring OLED displays and the company's new M3 chip. The redesigned 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models are expected to be thinner than the current generation.
Apple also plans to update the iPad Air with at least one new 12.9-inch model, which would be a first for the mid-tier tablet lineup. Multiple new iPad accessories are reportedly in the works, including Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard refreshes tailored to the updated iPad Pro's design.
M3-powered MacBook Air arriving soon
On the
Mac
side, Gurman says upgraded 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models equipped with Apple's next-generation M3 chip are imminent. The new chip is expected to improve notable performance over the M2 chip available in the 13-inch MacBook Air and lower-end Pro models.
While Apple has not confirmed its plans, Gurman expects the new iPad and Mac models to be released in late March or early April. He says Apple is prepping a special iOS 17.4 software update with support for the new hardware to roll out before month's end.
The updated iPad and Mac lineups would arrive roughly one year after Apple hosted its first spring event in two years in April 2022 to debut the fifth-generation iPhone SE, M1 Ultra chip for the Mac Studio desktop, and more.
