Gurman, known for his reliable Apple leaks, explains that several factors might be contributing to this delay. Firstly, Apple reportedly has ample unsold inventory of the first-generation AirTag. Gurman emphasises that Apple is "in no rush" with AirTag 2, preferring to wait until they have a truly compelling reason to refresh the device. Gurman’s claims match of analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who had also suggested that AirTag 2 will arrive in 2025. “The mass production schedule for AirTag 2 has been postponed to 2025,” Kuo had said on X.
The current AirTags, released in 2021, have generally received positive reviews for their sleek design, accurate tracking, and integration with the Find My app.
