An Australia-based

restaurant owner

named

Chris Pyatt

who owns a Thai restaurant called Pum’s Kitchen has told ABC Australia that

Apple Maps

was showcasing his restaurant as “Permanently closed” and it has cost him

business

.
Apple Maps started showing a restaurant as “Permanently Closed”
Pyatt mentioned that he isn’t sure when Apple Maps started listing its restaurant as “Permanently closed”.

However, it has certainly cost him footfall in this restaurant and business. The restaurant owner mentioned that he usually makes about A$12,000 (approximately $7,900) but noticed a significant downturn towards the end of November and December last year.

Pyatt also mentioned that he tried talking to Apple customer service to resolve this issue. However, the customer representative told him that they couldn’t help him with this as he’s not an Apple customer.
Later, Pyatt managed to update the “Open” status, but it took days to get reflected in the Apple Maps app.
Business Connect allows users to update the details on Apple Maps
Apple has a Business Connect tool which is available for free that lets users add their business details on Apple Maps along with Siri and other Apple services.

Business Insider has reported that this isn’t the only case of wrong information on Apple Maps. Several other business owners have also reported that Apple Maps has labelled their restaurant and business as “permanently closed” on the Maps in recent years.
What to do if you find details about your business wrong on Apple Maps
As mentioned, Apple has a Business Connect tool available for users. Using the tool, one can update the information about their business on Apple Maps.
All you need to do is access the Business Connect tool, and log into the account (if you don’t have one, register and then log in). Follow the on-screen instructions to add more details or make the correction in the Business Connect tool. That’s it. Your data will be added or updated in the Apple Maps after the submission.
