Apple is all set to introduce its new lineup of iPads on May 7 during the Let Loose event. Ahead of the event, a lot of speculation and rumours are swirling around hinging on what we can expect from the new lineup. Adding to the anticipation around the new iPad Pro lineup, reports suggest that Apple is planning to make its new iPad Pro a complete AI-powered device with the power of the new M4 chip.

In his recent newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reveals that Apple is prioritising Artificial Intelligence with its new generation iPad Pro. And for this focus Apple plans to unveil the new iPad Pro as its first "truly AI-powered device" with powerful processor. The centrepiece of this AI strategy seems to be the M4 chip, featuring a next-generation neural engine specifically designed for enhanced AI capabilities. While initially expected for the upcoming Macs slated for later in 2024, Gurman suggests there is a "strong possibility" that Apple might debut its M4 chip in the new iPad Pro.

The latest insight from Gurman comes alongside his earlier report about Apple accelerating its processor upgrades. Notably, Apple has been seen lagging a bit behind in the AI race against competitors like Google and Samsung, who are already powering their devices with AI. Hence, with this year's lineup and software updates, Apple is expected to take a big leap announcing some significant AI upgrades and giving its devices a big overhaul. Gurman believes Apple will heavily market the iPad Pro (M4) as a centre in this AI space, potentially paving the way for a similar approach with the upcoming iPhone 16 rumoured to feature the A18 chip with an AI focus as well.

The upcoming iPad Pro lineup is expected to offer more than just advancements in AI and the M4 chip. Notably, the iPad Pro may introduce an OLED display, a technology seen in iPhones, which could enhance visual sharpness and improve battery life. Additionally, the Apple Pencil might receive an upgrade with haptic feedback, promising a more intuitive drawing and note-taking experience.

In addition to the iPad Pro, Apple appears to be making substantial changes to its iPad Air lineup. One of the most significant updates for the iPad Air is the introduction of a larger 12.9-inch model, in addition to the existing 10.9-inch size. If these reports turn true, this will be the first time that the iPad Air will offer two screen sizes, providing consumers with more choices. The larger model is expected to feature a mini-LED screen similar to the previous iPad Pro, delivering enhanced brightness and contrast.

The iPad Air may also benefit from improved performance, potentially featuring the M2 or M3 chip for increased speed and capabilities. However, Apple reportedly has no plans to release a new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Air, which serves to distinguish the iPad Pro from the iPad Air.

It is important to note that this information is based on rumours and leaks, and final details will be confirmed by Apple during the "Let Loose" event on May 7. Nonetheless, the rumours do suggest significant advancements for both the iPad Pro and iPad Air, potentially appealing to a broader range of users with improved performance, display quality, and design features.
