Apple
today announced the new 13-inch and 15-inch
MacBook Air
M3 and with that the company has also discontinued two of its prior MacBook models – the 13-inch
MacBook Air M1
and
15-inch MacBook Air M2
.
The MacBook Air
M1
was launched at a starting price of Rs 92,900. The base configuration included an 8-Core CPU, 8-Core GPU, 8GB of unified memory, and 256GB of internal storage.
The 13-inch MacBook Air model that was launched back in November 2020 was the first one with Apple’s first in-house silicon for Mac – the M1.
The M1 MacBook Air promised up to 18 hours of battery life, with Apple claiming “the longest battery life ever on a MacBook Air,” at that time.
The M1 chip promised up to 3.5x faster CPU performance than the Intel Core 8th generation processor-powered MacBook Air model. The 8-core GPU promised 5x faster graphics performance and the neural engine was promised to be 9x faster in machine learning workloads.
15-inch MacBook Air M3 replaces last year's 15-inch Air model
Apple is also discontinuing the 15-inch MacBook Air M2, which was launched last year in June. The 15-inch model was launched at Rs 134900 onwards. It is being replaced with the M3-powered MacBook Air 15-inch.
Now, in the MacBook Air lineup remains three models – 13-inch MacBook Air M2, 13-inch MacBook Air M3, 15-inch MacBook Air
M3
– starting at a price of Rs 99,900, 1,14,900, and 1,34,900, respectively.
