late on Monday night. The hostel warden discovered the boy hanging on Tuesday morning and informed the police.
The deceased teenager was identified as Shubh Choudhary, aged 16 and a resident of Chhattisgarh.

He was preparing for the JEE at a coaching institute in Kota and was residing in a hostel room in the

police station area for the past 2 years.
According to the circle officer of the area, DSP Bhawani Singh, the teenager allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his hostel room on Monday night. No suicide note was found in his room.

also mentioned that Shubh had appeared for the JEE-Mains, and while the results were declared on Monday, the police were yet to confirm his result status.

Concerned after receiving no response to their calls on Tuesday morning, Shubh's parents requested the hostel warden to check on him. It was then that the warden discovered Shubh hanging from the ceiling fan and promptly informed the police.

In a serious violation of safety norms, it was revealed that the fan in the hostel room lacked an anti-suicide device, as stated by the official.
Upon the arrival of Shubh's parents from Chhattisgarh, his body was taken to the mortuary for postmortem examination.

This marks the third suicide by a coaching student since January in the country's coaching capital. Additionally, earlier this month, a 27-year-old BTech student also tragically took his own life.
Furthermore, in 2023, Kota witnessed a record 26 cases of alleged suicide by coaching students, the highest in a decade. Kota attracts around 2.50 lakh students annually from across the country for entrance exam preparation.
