In an official statement posted on Thursday, the Consulate assured that they are in constant contact with the family and providing all necessary assistance.

This incident follows a series of unfortunate events involving Indian students in the United States. Just days before Benigeri, 25-year-old Vivek Saini, an Indian MBA graduate, was brutally attacked by 25-year-old Julian Faulkner, a homeless drug addict. The horrifying incident, captured on camera, showed Faulkner striking Saini approximately 50 times on the head with a hammer.

In another recent incident, Neel Acharya, an Indian student, was reported missing and later confirmed dead by the Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office. Authorities responded to a distressing scene at 500 Allison Road in West Lafayette, where the lifeless body of the college-aged male was discovered on a Sunday morning.
