Virat Kohli
, the star batter of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), achieved a significant milestone by registering his 100th fifty-plus score in T20 cricket, making him the first Indian and only the third player overall to accomplish this feat.
Kohli reached this landmark during RCB's Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The 35-year-old Kohli showcased his vintage form after a disappointing outing against Chennai Super Kings.
He played a brilliant knock, scoring 77 runs off 49 balls, including 11 fours and two sixes, at a strike rate of over 157.
With 12,092 runs in 378 appearances at an average of 41.26, including eight centuries and 92 fifties, Kohli stands as India's leading T20 run-scorer and the sixth overall. His highest score in T20 cricket is 122*.
Chris Gayle of the West Indies leads the charts with 110 fifty-plus scores, including 22 centuries, followed by Australian great David Warner with 109 fifty-plus scores, including eight centuries.
In pursuit of 177 to win, RCB lost wickets at regular intervals, but Kohli's crucial innings held the innings together. Following his dismissal, the chase got tense, but Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror's late contributions ensured RCB's victory by four wickets.
Harpreet Brar and Kagiso Rabada were the standout bowlers for Punjab Kings, claiming two wickets each.
