SUNSET PARK, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- You can get a little taste of Japanese entertainment in New York City with the second annual AniTOMO Manga & Anime Convention this weekend.
The free event, hosted by Japan Village, comes to Brooklyn’s Industry City this Saturday and kicks off at 11 a.m. Fans of Japanese pop culture will be able to test their knowledge during an Ani Trivia Card Game, show off their creativity during a cosplay runway, and get the chance to win prizes during the Great Anime Debate Panel.
American film distributor GKIDS will headline the event, hosting a panel that gives insight into how it's brought beloved Studio Ghibli movies to Western audiences. The distribution powerhouse has brought Academy Award-winning films such as “The Boy and the Heron” and “Spirited Away” to American theaters.
AniTOMO is still accepting applications for vendors who may be interested in the event. Those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP online to participate in the workshops and win prizes.
