NEW YORK (PIX11) – Serendipity 3 is turning Andy Warhol’s iconic pop art into an ice cream sundae for a limited time.
The eatery teamed up with Madame Tussauds to honor the artist with a vibrant dessert timed to National Pop Art Day on Sunday.
“Andy Warhol was a longtime patron at Serendipity 3 from a young age,” chef and creative director Joe Calderone said. “We are thrilled to continue to celebrate him with the artists at Madame Tussauds for National Pop Art Day, as well as with our permanent table at the restaurant dedicated to his honor. He had such a big impact on the world of colorful, vibrant art, which this sundae truly encapsulates.”
An Andy Warhol wax figurine will also be placed inside the restaurant for a limited time. It will arrive at Serendipity 3 on Wednesday.
Much like its inspiration, the eye-catching sundae features some bold elements.
Images courtesy of Serendipity3A puddle of red strawberry topping, as well as a scoop each of birthday cake ice cream, strawberry ice cream, and mint chip ice cream make up the sundae. A shot glass with Warhol’s famous Campbell's soup painting on it is filled with hot fudge. Edible sheets of Marilyn Monroe and hills of whipped cream dotted with 60s-inspired candy flowers, colorful candy hearts, and purple, blue, and yellow maraschino cherries complete the masterpiece.
This edible work of art will be available at Serendipity 3, which is located at 225 E 60th St. in Manhattan, now through Sunday for $24.95. Reservations can be made here.
