Ancient Siva Lingam surfaces during road widening works at Srisailam

Srisailam Devasthanams was laying a new CC road and constructing a support wall near the Amphi theatre area, when the

ancient

Siva Lingam miraculously surfaced. An ancient Nandi idol and some inscriptions were also found at the site.
Srisailam Devasthanams officials took photographs of the ancient Siva Lingam, Nandi idol and the inscriptions and shared them with the archeological survey of India department officials at Mysore, who confirmed after an initial round of observation that the inscriptions may date back to the 14th-15th century.

According to the ASI officials, the inscriptions read that a person named Kampilaiah, a resident of Nindra, who was a follower of Sidda Dev belonging to Brahmapuri, had installed the Siva Lingam here.
