NEW YORK (PIX11) – Amtrak trains are running with lengthy delays along the Northeast Corridor on Sunday, and NJ Transit service is suspended between New York and Philadelphia.
One track between New York and Philadelphia has been restored after a downed overhead power line completely stalled trains. Minimal train movement was running as of 12:45 p.m., creating "lengthy delays," according to Amtrak.
Trains from Washington Union Station to Boston South Station were also impacted by the power wires, creating lengthy delays on this route too.
The Amtrak trains were completely suspended from around 5 a.m. to around 12 p.m. Sunday.
NJ Transit's Atlantic City Rail Line service is suspended between Cherry Hill and Philadelphia 30th Street because of the wires, according to NJ Transit. Rail tickets and passes are being cross-honored by PATCO with substitute bus service mirroring the Atlantic City Rail Line.
Amtrak will waive charges for affected customers that change their reservations. Customers can call 1-800-USA-RAIL to reschedule.
