Apple
launched the FineWoven
iPhone cases
along with the iPhone 15 series in September 2023. Since their launch, several users have complained about the quality of these cases. Now, e-commerce major
Amazon
has also added a ‘special’ label to notify users about the questionable quality of the iPhone’s
FineWoven
cases.
Amazon has added a warning label saying “frequently returned item” to Apple’s FineWoven accessories to caution buyers about their quality.
A user named ayfondo (spotted by 9to5Mac) was the first one to notice the Amazon labelling of these cases and shared a screenshot of the same on the Meta-owned micro-blogging site Threads.
The warning label appears to be only on the product listings for all of Apple’s FineWoven cases for iPhone 15. However, the Amazon listings for FineWoven MagSafe Wallets have not been labelled with the same warning.
Amazon’s labelling of iPhone cases
Amazon’s label on Apple’s iPhone FineWoven cases says: “Frequently returned item: Check the product details and customer reviews to learn more about this item.”
Meanwhile, several third-party iPhone 15 cases had labels which said the exact opposite: “Customers usually keep this item.”
What users said about iPhone FineWoven cases
The reviews for FineWoven cases on Amazon are also mixed. Some users said that they like them, while one of the users noted that they are the worst thing Apple’s released since that U2 album in 2014.
Prices for “used” FineWoven cases on Amazon have also reduced over the last several months.
A series of polls on social media sites saw the majority of owners describe them as “junk.” The combined results of three social media polls showed that 53% of users described the case as “a piece of junk,” while only 21% considered it to have held up well.
Renowned tech journalist Joanna Stern took to social media platform X to reveal her experience with the iPhone 15 Pro FineWoven case she owns. Stern said: “The edges are peeling, the fabric is scratched up like an old CD, and it’s browning like a rotten banana.”
