NEW YORK (PIX11) -- Drivers will catch a break Saturday morning after the Department of Transportation suspended Alternate Side Parking rules.
The move comes so the department can facilitate snow operations in anticipation of winter weather Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning. Parking meters however remain in effect.
The NYC Office of Emergency Management has also issued a travel advisory for Saturday evening through Sunday.
New York is expected to get another round of snow, sleet and freezing rain over the weekend, according to forecasters at the National Weather Service.
About 3 to 5 inches of snow accumulation is expected to blanket the city, prompting a winter storm watch from the National Weather Service.
“This weekend's winter weather will make getting around difficult, with snow and potentially freezing rain creating slippery and icy conditions,” said New York City Emergency Management Commissioner Zach Iscol. “We want everyone to be safe. If you can, please stay off the roads and use mass transit."
More snow is also expected to batter the city Tuesday and Wednesday.
