Alleged Long Island amusement park stabber was acquainted with victim: SCPD

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (PIX11) – The man accused in a stabbing at Long Island's Adventureland Amusement Park on Sunday was acquainted with the victim, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

It happened around 4:50 p.m. inside the Farmingdale amusement park. An argument broke out between the suspect, victim and several others, according to authorities.

Daniel Tomasky, of Shirley, allegedly stabbed 47-year-old James Burns in the abdomen, per police. At least one child was present during the stabbing, according to authorities.

Burns, of Florida, was taken to an area hospital where he's in critical condition. Tomasky, 42, was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.

Tomasky's arraignment is scheduled for Monday at Central Islip court.
