Alleged car thief falls to death near George Washington Bridge

NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A man accused of stealing a vehicle fell to his death during a police pursuit on Sunday, according to the NYPD.

The incident happened at around 1:33 a.m.

The 19-year-old was driving a stolen red Mercedes near George Washington Bridge, police said.

The suspect attempted to flee on foot when he fell onto Riverside Drive, according to the NYPD. He was transported to Harlem Hospital where he died from his injuries.

The NYPD has not released the identity of the individual as of Monday morning.
