AGRA: A 24-year-old man was abducted and subsequently
murdered
in the Malpura police station area in Agra after his family could not pay the Rs 10 lakh ransom his captors demanded for his release. Despite apprehending the suspects, the police have yet to find the victim's body.
The police arrested three suspects, including the main accused, Rahul Joshi, for the abduction and murder of Sushil Kumar, a resident of Nagle Hatti village.
During interrogation, the suspects revealed details of the crime, prompting the police to initiate a search for the body. On the morning of June 2, Sushil received a call from Joshi, summoning him to Nagla Revati village. After Sushil left home, his family lost contact with him.
Later that afternoon, Sushil's mother, Bhuri Devi, received a call from an unknown number informing her of her son's abduction.
Kidnappers
called again demanding Rs 10 lakh for his release. However, the kidnappers switched off their phones, and there was no way for the family to contact them. For two days, Malpura police kept Bhuri Devi waiting, citing ongoing investigations. It was only on Wednesday that an abduction case was registered, Bhuri said.
She said her son had no enmity with anyone and questioned the police's misleading actions and approach to the case. Enraged by the police's negligence, villagers surrounded the Malpura police station, with women protesting late into the night on Thursday. DCP Sonam Kumar said, "The accused have confessed to murdering the man. A probe is on."
