Afghanistan fans took to the streets to carry out celebrations after their side secured their historic first-ever qualification to the semi-finals of the ongoing T20 World Cup, on top of their thrilling win over Bangladesh on June 25. The Rashid Khan-led side defeated Najmul Shanto's Bangladesh by 8 runs via DLS method, which meant that they knocked out one of the favourites, Australia, from the race for the semi-final. After their emphatic victories against T20I cricket giants like New Zealand and Australia in what has been a dream T20 World Cup run for the side, Rashid's Afghanistan strived through to the final four of the tournament.
Having opted to bat first, the end-to-end thriller saw Afghanistan batters face a risky start after managing to set a target of just 115 runs against a considerably strong Bangladesh bowling attack. However, the likes of skipper Rashid and Naveen ul Haq redeemed themselves with their bowling brilliance in their 4/23 and 4/26 spells respectively. After multiple rain delays, it was Naveen who bagged the final two Bangladesh wickets to secure the side's crucial win in an emphatic fashion on Tuesday.
