entertainment, is set to enchant audiences with his upcoming film, 'Panchak.' Scheduled for an early January release, the actor sheds light on his experience working on the film and expresses his views on the potential for Marathi cinema to capture a broader audience.
In a candid discussion, Kothare reveals the unique circumstances that led him to take on the lead role in 'Panchak.' "It was essentially the original director and the team that had developed the subject.

They initially had someone else in mind for the lead, but I became the choice of

, and that's how I secured the main lead in the film," he shares.

Delving into the collaborative joy of working with an ensemble cast featuring talents like Bharti Achrekar,

Sathish Alekar

, Dilip Prabhavalkar, and Anand Ingale, Kothare introduces the film's storyline. "We had a blast because it's an ensemble cast. The film explores the comedic chaos in a Konkan family when a son rejects traditional rituals after his father's death, opting for science instead. The tagline, 'Atta KonChi number Abhi, Kiska number, Kiska number Ayega,' sets the tone for the dark comedy," he reveals.

Having seamlessly transitioned between Bollywood and Marathi cinema, Kothare highlights the only noticeable difference – the size of the audience. He emphasizes that with consistent efforts, Marathi films can undoubtedly expand their reach. "Nothing is different. The same talented individuals work in Marathi cinema, and the only distinction is the audience base, which is more extensive for Hindi films due to their global appeal. Marathi cinema also has a global audience, but we need that one film to create a crossover for Marathi content," Kothare explains.

Acknowledging the passionate viewership of Marathi content within the Marathi community, Kothare advocates for increased consistency in delivering high-quality content. "Today, people recognize the Marathi industry for its excellent content, but there needs to be more consistency in the quality of Marathi films to build a broader audience base. Many beautiful films are being made in Marathi, so if good Marathi films consistently hit the screens, we can surely reach a wider audience," he concludes.
