Active Covid tally crosses 50, one person hospitalised

PANAJI: Goa’s active Covid tally crossed the 50 mark on Wednesday with 16 new cases detected over the past 24 hours. One patient was admitted to a private hospital in North Goa.
State epidemiologist

Dr Prashant Suryavanshi

said all the active cases are mild and added that the hospitalised patient is doing well.
Private hospitals must report any Covid admission to the state health department.

The data from private labs too are included in the health department’s daily Covid bulletin. Wednesday’s bulletin revealed that 322 samples were tested of which 16 were positive.

Dr Suryavanshi said people should be isolated for seven days to prevent the virus from spreading.
He also advised Covid-appropriate behaviour when in crowded places and when visiting hospitals or pharmacies.
In case of any flu-like symptoms, he advised people to get tested and if found positive, to stay in home isolation for seven days.
He added that the 52 active cases are not concentrated in any particular area of the state.
