NEW DELHI: Former South Africa captain

AB de Villiers

expressed his delight as Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper

Rishabh Pant

gears up to make his comeback for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Pant missed out on IPL 2023 due to sustaining multiple injuries in a car accident back in December 2022.
Sharing his sentiments on Pant's return, the former right-hand batter remarked on his YouTube channel, "The son of Delhi will be watched by thousands around India and around the globe again and by me. He's got number 17 on his back; I used to have 17 on my back. There's a bit of chemistry, and I absolutely love watching this guy play. It's great to have him back. He scored an IPL hundred, maybe this will be the season for number two, three, maybe even four."

Pant, a prominent figure in the Delhi squad since 2016, boasts an impressive record, having amassed 2,838 runs in 98 matches at an average of 34.61 and a striking rate exceeding 147. His contribution includes a century and 15 half-centuries, showcasing his prowess with the bat.

The anticipation for

IPL 2024

is palpable, with the 17th season of the tournament set to kick off on March 22. The opening match will witness defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) facing off against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a South Indian derby at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
For the Delhi Capitals, their campaign begins with a clash against the Punjab Kings in Chandigarh on Saturday, marking the commencement of what promises to be an enthralling season of IPL

cricket.
