Verification of your Aadhaar number can be done online or offline through various channels. Official options include the UIDAI website, toll-free number 1947, or visiting an Aadhaar enrolment centre. Scanning the QR code on the Aadhaar card, e-Aadhaar, or Aadhaar PVC provides quick access to biographical details, such as name, gender, date of birth, address, and photo, all accompanied by UIDAI's digital signature.

According to the UIDAI website, the e-Aadhaar QR codes contain demographic information about the resident, such as their name, address, date of birth, gender, and Masked Aadhaar Number. Additionally, the larger QR code includes a photograph.

How to verify Aadhaar with a QR scan using mAadhaar app


  • Begin by downloading and opening the mAadhaar app.
  • Next, activate the QR Code Scanner. (each physical Aadhaar card includes a QR code)
  • Scan the QR Code displayed on the Aadhaar card.

Please be aware that the app will scan the QR code and present the biographic information of the Aadhaar holder, including their name, gender, date of birth, address, and photograph. These details are digitally signed by UIDAI and are verifiable.

Aadhaar Card Verification: Alternative ways to verify Aadhaar card

Another option for verifying your Aadhaar digitally is to visit the UIDAI website and input your 12-digit Aadhaar number along with the captcha code. UIDAI also provides an Interactive Voice Response Service (IVRS) and an AI-based chatbot named Aadhaar Mitra to handle Aadhaar-related inquiries and services.
