In an ongoing crackdown on illegal immigrants in the national capital, police have arrested nine Bangladeshi nationals from the Old Delhi area over the past five days for illegally entering and residing in India, officials said on Saturday. All nine Bangladeshi nationals were sent for deportation.

The arrests were part of a special drive conducted from January 1 to January 5, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Central Delhi. The operation targeted different parts of Old Delhi, focusing on people living in the area without valid documentation.

During the operation, police recovered fake documents from the accused, further revealing the methods used to gain entry and reside illegally in the country.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover any larger networks facilitating such illegal activities.

Earlier on Saturday (January 4), the police arrested five illegal migrants, including a woman and two children, from Bangladesh. The documents of the migrants turned out to be fake.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested and deported over 30 illegal Bangladeshi migrants in the last few days. The police have also busted a gang responsible for providing Aadhar cards and other government identification cards based on fake documents to illegal immigrants residing in the national capital. Four members of the gang, including two Bangladeshi citizens, have been arrested.
