Six children died and over 20 others were injured after a school bus overturned in Haryana's Narnaul on Thursday morning. The school was functioning despite a holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr, officials said.

The bus which belonged to GL Public School overturned near Unhani village of Kanina.

The District Education Officer said that after initial investigation, it appears that the driver lost control of the bus and rammed it into a tree. He might have been drunk, he added.

According to the district administration, 12 injured students were moved to a local hospital and police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Official documents show that the bus's fitness certificate had expired six years ago in 2018.
