MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – At least five men are in custody after two police officers were attacked while trying to detain a suspect in Manhattan, according to the NYPD.
Yorman Reveron, Darwin Andres Gomez-Izquiel, Wilson Juarez, Kelvin Servita Arocha and Jhoan Boada were all charged with assault on a police officer and gang assault, officials said.
Another seven men are still being sought in connection to the attack, according to officials.
Officers were trying to clear a group standing in front of the Chandler Building on West 42nd Street around 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 27, officials said. When the officers tried to detain a man, the group swarmed them and punched and kicked them repeatedly, according to authorities.
The officers were treated on the scene for minor injuries, officials said. The group fled the scene on foot, heading east on West 42nd Street.
