At least five to six MLAs of the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) are in touch with Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders and have shown their willingness to return to the party, sources said on Friday.

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray will decide on their return, the sources added.

Earlier on Thursday, sources also informed India Today TV that around 10-15 MLAs from Ajit Pawar's NCP faction in Maharashtra are in touch with the Sharad Pawar camp, sources said on Thursday. The development comes months ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly polls and after Ajit Pawar's NCP managed to win just a solitary Lok Sabha seat.

Without naming any party, NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) state president Jayant Patil said several leaders were in touch with them. "We will think of these proposals at our meeting on June 9. On June 10, we have our foundation day," he said.

The Maharashtra Lok Sabha results turned out to be disastrous for the ruling Mahayuti alliance, which bagged just 17 seats.

On the other hand, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), plagued by splits in two parties, punched above its weight to bag 30 seats.

The Congress won 13 seats, the Shiv Sena (UBT) won nine and the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) got eight seats.

On Wednesday, deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis offered to resign, taking responsibility for the party's performance in the Lok Sabha elections. However, sources said no decision has yet been taken and Fadnavis is likely to stay on as deputy Chief Minister.
