BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – Four people, including a baby, were pulled unconscious from an apartment fire at a NYCHA building in Brooklyn on Sunday, authorities said.
The fire happened in a first-floor apartment at the Gowanus Houses at 178 Bond St. around 4 p.m., according to the FDNY.
Firefighters found two men, a woman, and an infant unconscious in the apartment, FDNY officials said.
“They were all found in various locations all trying to get to the front door. The female and the infant were right by the front door after we forced it open. And the two adult males were in the kitchen,” FDNY Deputy Chief Joseph Duggan said.
First responders performed CPR and were able to regain a pulse on the woman and the infant, officials said. All four victims were hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said.
Firefighters brought the fire under control around 4:30 p.m., officials said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
