NEW YORK (PIX11) – Three lucky New Yorkers became $50,000 richer Monday after winning third-place Powerball prizes.
The winning tickets were all sold at stores in New York City and Bethpage:
- Bethpage: 7-Eleven, 497 Stewart Ave.
- Flushing: Norion Super Market, 34-10 Union St.
- Manhattan: Desai Newsstand, 150 E 42nd St.
The Powerball jackpot reached a whopping $348 million by Tuesday, but the odds of winning were equally as outstanding at one in every 292 million tickets. The third-place ticket is a decent jump down from the second-place prize of $1 million – also a far less likely win.
But New Yorkers are still winning big. Last week, two New Yorkers also claimed $50,000 Powerball prizes in East Hampton and Queens.
Flushing has been particularly lucky in February with another lottery player taking home a $10,038 winning TAKE 5 ticket on Friday, according to the New York Lottery.
Powerball ticket holders get three shots to win - Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m.
