MUMBAI/NAVI MUMBAI: Three FIRs were registered against NCP

The FIRs were lodged at MIDC (Andheri East), Ghatkopar and Navghar (Bhayander East) police stations. The complaints were made over Awhad's controversial speech on January 3 on Lord Ram. BJP MLA Ram Kadam lodged the complaint at Ghatkopar police station on Saturday.
A Vishwa Hindu Parishad member lodged the complaint at MIDC police station on Friday, while a Bajrang Dal member lodged the complaint with the Navghar police on Saturday. The three FIRs have been registered under IPC Section 295 (A), police said.
Meanwhile an application was also made to Vashi police by a VHP member but the police are yet to register an FIR. Shashikant Chandekar, senior inspector of Vashi police station said, "The application made by VHP has been sent to DCP (special branch) for seeking approval to register an FIR."
However DCP Prashant Mohite (special branch) said, "The senior inspector of Vashi police station needs to seek approval from the zonal DCP for registering an FIR."
