NEW YORK (PIX11) – Below-average temperatures are causing a freeze in travel plans across the U.S.

Around 3,000 flights in or out of the U.S. were canceled on Wednesday, including 45 flights at JFK Airport. Thousands more were delayed, with many airlines blaming the weather conditions.

Those traveling by flight aren't the only ones struggling. Some drivers with electric cars also struggled with the cold.

Cold temperatures can temporarily reduce the range of electric vehicles by more than 40%, according to AAA.

Long lines were seen at charging stations across the northeast.

Train travelers are also feeling the cold. Amtrak announced more than a dozen cancellations on its Northeast Corridor.

You're encouraged to check with your carrier for delays or cancellations before you go to the train station or airport.
