2 'smugglers' killed by BSF on Bangladesh border

KRISHNAGANJ: Two

unidentified people

, suspected to be

smugglers

from Bangladesh, were

gunned down

by

BSF

late on Saturday at the border along Govindpur under

Krishnaganj

police station in Nadia district of West Bengal, reports .
According to sources, the incident took place on Saturday. Jawans from BSF patrolling the area came across the duo attempting to prise open the iron fence at the border.

BSF said the alleged smugglers attacked them, forcing the patrol party to shoot in self-defence. The two were killed in the retaliatory firing.The bodies were taken to Krishnaganj hospital and then to Shaktinagar district hospital for autopsy.
