RAIPUR: Two
security personnel
lost their lives and four were injured in an IED blast during an anti-maoist operation launched by security forces in forests of
Bijapur district
of insurgency-hit
Bastar region
on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
The injured jawans were being airlifted and brought to
Chhattisgarh capital
for treatment.
Bijapur police said that a joint team of
Special Task Force
, District Reserve Guards, CoBRA,
Central Reserve Police Force
had gone out on special anti-maoist operation on July 16.
There were specific inputs about the presence and movement of Maoist from Darbha division, western Bastar division and military number 2 of the organization, in the forests of Dantewada, Sukma and Bijapur.
During the search on July 17 night in Tarrem region, an IED was triggered by
Maoists
targeting the security forces leading to fatal injuries to two jawans of STF and four wounded with splinters.
Reinforcements were sent to the spot and the jawans were evacuated by morning, officials said. After primary treatment, the injured jawans were being airlifted for better treatment.
The martyred jawans were STF constables Bharat Sahu, resident of Raipur and Satyer Singh Kange, native of Narayanpur district.
