NEW JERSEY (PIX11) --- Two New York men were arrested after cops dismantled a chop shop in New Jersey, authorities said.
Cops found stolen cars that were housed and taken apart at the Veracity Stone Fabricators warehouse at 23 Daniel Rd. East in Fairfield on Jan. 29, officials said.
Edison Cuevas, 37, and Virelsa Guzman, 33, both of Yonkers, were arrested and charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, operating a facility for the sale of stolen automobile parts, and conspiracy to operate a facility for the sale of stolen automobile parts, police said.
Investigators raided the warehouse at around 2:30 a.m. after receiving a tip that the location would be cleared by 6 a.m., authorities said. Police found several chopped-up Honda cars at the site. At least two were reported stolen in New York City in the past two months, according to police.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests will likely be made, police said.
"Our detectives have done an outstanding job in tracking down suspects in this case and have been working diligently at determining the culpability of each," Police Chief Anthony G. Manna said.
