2 men convicted in 2020 Brooklyn shooting death of boy, 1, to be sentenced

BED-STUY, Brooklyn (PIX11) – Two alleged gang members convicted in a series of shootings, including the fatal shooting of a 1-year-old boy in Brooklyn, will be sentenced on Wednesday.

Dashawn Austin and Akeem Artis were found guilty in the shooting death of 1-year-old Davell Gardner Jr. Austin allegedly opened fire at a cookout in Bed-Stuy during a drive-by shooting in 2020.

Police ID teen, 16, shot to death in SoHo

The little boy, along with three others, were shot, according to prosecutors. Artis was driving the car, prosecutors said.

Austin and Artis, along with two other defendants, were also convicted in other gang-related shootings and killings.
