BOROUGH PARK, Brooklyn (PIX11) — Police are investigating a double homicide in Borough Park where an elderly man and woman were found inside a home with stab wounds across their bodies.
There was an active scene outside of the home at 1158 45th Street. Police were seen going in and out of the home, as they investigated what led up to the incident.
Detectives say they responded to a 911 call of assault at the home where they found the 75-year-old victims.
NYPD tells PIX11 News the attack happened just before 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
The two victims were taken to a Maimonidies Medical Center where they were pronounced dead, according to police. A suspect has been taken into police custody.
NYPD investigators were not able to confirm the relationship between the suspects and the victims, but PIX11’s Zhané Caldwell spoke with multiple neighbors who said they believed the suspect was the son of the deceased.
Neighbors said the male victim was well-known around the neighborhood and that he was known for helping anyone who needed it.
“He was a person kind of fixing the world,” said neighbor Yiddy Rosenberg. “He didn’t talk a lot but when it came to someone else’s problem when he sees someone needs help — come to my house, just eat something. It’s a tragedy for so many people that knew him.”
Police say the charges are pending against the suspect as the investigation remains ongoing.
