2 cases of potentially fatal parasitic infection reported in Westchester: officials

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. (PIX11) – The Westchester County Health Department is investigating two cases of toxoplasmosis, a potentially fatal parasitic infection, according to officials.

The parasite can cause flu-like symptoms that last for a few weeks. Other symptoms include muscle aches, headache, fever with chills and sweats, tiredness, sore throat or swollen lymph nodes.

It can also cause long-term vision problems.

Officials said those who are sick or exposed attended two game dinners at Moses Taylor Jr. American Legion Post in Mount Kisco on Jan. 19 and 20. If you attended one of these dinners, officials recommend you reach out to your doctor about potential exposure to toxoplasmosis.
