2 BJP workers booked for abusing, issuing threats to Rahul Gandhi

RUDRAPUR:

Udham Singh Nagar police

on Saturday filed a

case

against two

BJP workers

for allegedly

abusing

and calling for the killing of

leader of opposition

Rahul Gandhi. The individuals have been identified as Rajat Dixit, 25, and Vipin Singh Gehlot, 30.
On Thursday evening, at Bhagat Singh Chowk in the city, BJP Yuva Morcha workers burned an effigy of Gandhi and desecrated his photograph.

The protest was triggered by recent remarks made by Gandhi, where he criticised BJP leaders, claiming they were "not true Hindus because they engaged in violence and hate."
The situation escalated after a video of the incident started doing rounds on social media. Led by Congress's district president Himanshu Gaba and city president CP Sharma, Congress members reached the local police station, demanding the arrest of the BJP leaders. "We will not tolerate such actions against our leaders. This behaviour is unacceptable, and we demand immediate action," said Gaba.
Rudrapur SHO Dhirendra Kumar said, "An FIR has been lodged under sections 196A (promoting enmity), 352 (insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), and 353B (statement conducing to public mischief) of the BNS."
