NEW YORK (PIX11) – A health advisory was issued for 18 Long Island beaches on Thursday following summer storms overnight, according to the Nassau County Department of Health.
The beaches were impacted by stormwater runoff, which could elevate bacteria in the water, health officials said.
Here are the beaches affected by the health advisory:
North Shore beaches:
- Centre Island Sound – Bayville
- Ransom Beach – Bayville
- Soundside Beach – Bayville
- Stehli Beach – Bayville
- Piping Rock Beach Club – Locust Valley
- Creek Club – Lattingtown
- Lattingtown Beach – Lattingtown
- Laurel Hollow Beach – Laurel Hollow
- Theodore Roosevelt Beach – Oyster Bay
- Morgan Sound – Glen Cove
- Pryibil Beach – Glen Cove
- Tappen Beach – Glenwood Landing
- North Hempstead Beach Park – Port Washington
- Sea Cliff Village Beach – Sea Cliff
South Shore beaches:
- Biltmore Beach Club – Massapequa
- Philip Healey Beach – Massapequa
- Hewlett Point Beach – East Rockaway
- Island Park Beach – Island Park
The advisory will be lifted on Friday at 6 a.m. unless there is any additional rainfall overnight or water testing reveals higher than normal bacteria levels.
