SOUNDVIEW, The Bronx (PIX11) – Elected officials came together Friday to break ground on an upcoming $1 billion mixed-use affordable housing development in the Bronx.
The Stevenson Square project, being built in Soundview, will enter its first phase of construction. One building will be six stories with 117 studio unit rentals of affordable senior housing, developers said.
Another building will have 58 units of affordable homeownership units in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, according to developers.
Stevenson Square will be attached to Stevenson Commons, a 948-unit building under the Mitchell-Lama program.
Stevenson Commons will have nearly 1,000 new affordable units, 30,000 square feet of community space, a walking path, a sensory playground and a recreation space once construction is complete, developers said.
