LOCUST VALLEY, N.Y. (PIX11) – At least 12 firefighters were injured while battling a house fire on Long Island on Sunday, according to the Nassau County Police Department.
The fire broke out on Great Meadow Road in Locust Valley around 3:50 p.m., according to authorities. Seven fire departments and over 100 firefighters fought to extinguish the flame, police said.
The 12 firefighters suffered from exhaustion, police said. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for treatment, while 11 were treated on the scene, according to authorities.
Two residents were displaced from their home as a result of the fire, police said. The cause of the fire is under investigation and is not believed to be suspicious, according to authorities.
